Incredible piece of history.
This Model T based race car was raced on 1/2 mile dirt tracks in Kansas and Colorado by Mr. William Frastchner of Offerle, Kansas in the early 1920’s. Frastchner suffered an accident in a race in Dodge City, Kansas in 1925 and raced no more. The car continued to race under other owners until it retired in 1928. After it’s racing career it was put away and never scavenged for hot rod parts! This is a great example of a pre-sprint, late 20’s race car.
It features a modified Ford Model T chassis, 4-banger engine with a Frontenac “Fronty” head with overhead valves, ground camshaft, two inch downdraft Winfield Series S carburetor,aluminum racing pistons and connecting rods, pressurized oil systems, high tension Bosch magneto ignition, ball bearing rear end, nine-tooth sprocket and forty two tooth ring gear with a counter-balanced true miked crankshaft. Left side controls include single pad brake on left rear wheel, hand pressurized fuel, and in-out gear lever.
Top speed for this little racer was around 85 mph. The car was sold to Rod and Shelly Millen who operate the Leadfoot Ranch and Festival in New Zealand. They restored it and will be on display as-is in their museum.
