The Touch

I have found a good process to follow when you have a project car. 1) Get it running. 2) Make sure all the safety measures are in place. Brakes, Electrical, Steering, etc. 3) Now you can tackle the aesthetics.

One of the first areas to cover is the steering wheel. Let’s face it, you touch it all the time. When it feels comfortable to you, you will enjoy the ride all the more.

We have gone through 4 steering wheels since we have owned Riff-Raff. The original Lecarra wheel was nice, but the style was not quite right for the car. Then we went with a GT Banjo wheel. Nice looking but the diameter of the wheel was a bit too small. It just wasn’t comfortable.

Then we saw CON2R at the Grand National Roadster Show. They have a system where you can design your own steering wheel! The Wheel Builder on their website is a fun tool to use. You can choose from different main styles then dial down to the specifics of grip, color, spokes and horn button.

This is the second CON2R wheel we have ordered. The last one is really nice, but with the change in style going from a street rod to a ’60’s era custom the wheel was just not quite right. We got busy and chose a classic three spoke design and colors that match our new interior.

Check out this video that goes over the ordering process and installation. Be sure to check out https://CON2R.com to design Your Wheel Your Way. You can save your designs and order it when you are ready.
