Built by Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle
This one’s for my Uncle Doug. He asks if I see a ’64 GTO for sale to let him know. You see, he had one back in the late ’60’s and I remember painting it in our garage competition orange with black lace stripes. OK, I was probably 6 or 7 years old, but the memory had stuck with me for a while. Probably because of the orange paint overspray was all over my toys in the garage.
While at the 2011 SEMA Show GTO-R builder; Kevin Tulley of Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle of Addison, Illinois invited me to the “unveiling” of the car in the OPG booth. The unveiling was created to officially announce the winner of the Raybestos sweepstakes car a couple out of Ontario, Canada.
The car was built to represent the classic road racers from the 1960’s. It was purpose built to handle road course and short track duty. The 700 HP LSX hp with stack injection is kept in check with Raybestos NASCAR-spec braking package at all four corners. The design of the car was developed by Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle co-owner and illustrator Chad “Django” Hill. Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle custom fabricated the headers and chassis with proprietary 9″ rear end and rear suspension.
