The 2011 SEMA Show

The SEMA Show is a marathon. A test of endurance. Four days of automotive aftermarket wonders. Rumors state that if you walk every aisle, you would put 15 miles on your Chuck Taylors. That’s if you walk each aisle once. Most of us visit the same aisle a couple of times during the week. There were some incredible new products announced, some great cars, and a great opportunity to catch up with friends.

One of our favorite products was the smooth door handles by Kindig-it Designs, Rare Parts is the only company out there making a ball joints for the short-lived Chevy Quadra-steer, and DefenderWorx announced new parts for the Corvette C6, late model Mustang, Chevy Cruze and Toyota Tundra. Look for details of these products in future posts here at BlacktopMagazine.com. Favorite cars were the El Nomado – a 1958 Chevrolet “El Camino”, Classic Industries ’72 Duster from Chop Cut Rebuild, a 1964 GTO-R Raybestos give-away built by Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle, click here for the article on the GTO-R. We are also proud of our neighborhood shop The 401k Club Hot Rod Shop’s custom 1969 Camaro RS getting a center hallway placement of their car.

We will be posting several articles from the SEMA Show including featured exhibitors such as Chicago Pneumatic, Battery Tender, Hotchkis, Rare Parts, Remy, Packard Industries, Goodmark and OPG. And a special Chop Shop article on the Clamptite Wire Clamping tool. We also posted an article on the several awards receptions we went to. See it here. We were invited to site with Dennis Gage at his VIP table during the SEMA Awards Banquet hosted by Dave McClelland and Sinbad as the headline act. On Friday we hosted Genevieve Chappell, The Queen of Cars, for photoshoots at some of our favorite booths.

On our Facebook Page we posted day-by-day galleries from the show and a gallery of the motorcycles at the show at our Shocker Choppers page on Facebook. And, a gallery of the Ladies of SEMA as well.

All-in-all, a great show and even a bit of snow on the ride through the desert on the way home.
