Edelbrock – The Big Red Machine (as quoted by an employee and not to be confused with the Motorcycle Club) has put on another great event. This was more than a car show hosted by a manufacturer. It was a two-day charitable event for the Center for Learning Unlimited, with a meet and greet, tour and evening reception with a panel discussion featuring George Barris, Andy Brizio, George Follmer, Parnelli Jones, Sam Foose, Ed Iskendarian, Dave McClelland, Ed Pink, Louie Senter, Gene Winfield, Alex Xydias and moderated by Alan Taylor and Bruce Meyer.
Sundays’ car show featured over 450 top classic, muscle and kustom cars with special presentations by the Batmobile, Star Cars, Hot Wheels, West Coast Customs and more. Kids had an opportunity to try their hand at custom airbrushing in the Edelbrock Performance Academy with partners Ohio Technical College and Custom painter Mike Gold. Von Hot Rod and his Pinstriping Circus striped Christi’s 2011 E-Force Supercharged Camaro.
At the SEMA Show in 2010 we witnessed Loara High School win the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow challenge, where a team of 7 students dis-assemble and then re-assemble a performance outfitted GM 350ci in record time. The Region 7 competition took place on Sunday during the show and Loara High School Team 1 “Team Motive Gear” took the 1st place position with a record time of 19 minutes and 11 seconds flat! Team 2 from Loara HS “Team Magnaflow” took second place at 31:52 and third place went to North OC ROP “Team Aeroquip” with a time of 38:09.
All in all a great time at the show. Good to see old friends and some excellent vehicles. The next Edelbrock Rev’ved Up 4 Kids event is May 4-5, 2013. Find out more at: www.RevvedUp4Kids.com.
