With nearly 300 Ford Model A’s on average appearing at Hart Park, this year a threat of rain brought out the die-hards. From roadsters to sedans, Hot Rods to Gennies, this show is a must-see for any early Ford or classic car enthusiast. The show is held at Hart Park, nearly 42 acres in the edge of Old Towne Orange, California’s largest historic district. The park was acquired by the city in 1933 and features a large picnic area, swimming pool, tot-lots and 2 lighted baseball fields. Parking is in a paved portion of the usually dry, Santiago Creek under the Glassell street bridge the parking turns into a bike trail that will take you towards the beach or up to the foothills. On a day like this with flash flood warnings, I found it brave for the cars to park in the “Orange Plunge”.
An added benefit this year was an incredible parking lot sale at the historic C.W. Moss building only a mile away from the park. C.W. Moss is an internationally recognized early Ford restoration parts retailer. The patriarch of the family run business; Harold Looney, was there to meet his old time friends who visit come from all around for the show in the park. Just as the breakfast was ending, and the visitors rolled up to C.W. Moss, the clouds decided to let the rain fall. More diehards didn’t mind the rain while shopping for great deals on take-off and New Old Stock Ford parts.
