An ArtMarty Feature
So I am walking around the 2022 Mooneyes New Years Party Car Show and Drags. My eyeballs popped when I came across Guy Salazar’s booth.
The vendor area is always cool with independent regional artists and makers showing their wares. A sucker for bright colors and colorful graphics, my eyes smiled as I saw the skate decks, bottle tops and and diecut painted artwork. Or maybe it was the painted roadsign that got me. None the less I stopped and took a deeper look.
A super-chill dude and his girl were there and quickly asked what I thought about his work. Tempted to get the “Free Haircut” (see saw on right) but I just had the locks trimmed at Main Street Barbers. The flying boob is pretty neat as well,
The Huntington Beach artist has been drawing since he was a kid. A fan of ’70’s hot rod art of Rat Fink, R Crumb and others. Guy has a great eye for color and composition. His designs have rewarded him the opportunity to paint on cool cars, bikes and a variety of surfaces.
