• WRAPPING THE PIPES ON THE ROAD KING •
A Shocker Choppers Feature:
Billy and I worked together in the garage again today. This time we re-wrapped the pipes on my ’04 Road King Custom. The Samson True Dual pipes needed a bit of cosmetic update since the last time we wrapped them several years back.
Thermo-Tec has a cool styled wrap part of their Rogue line. We chose the “Carbon Fiber” 2″ wrap in a 50′ roll.

To wrap both pipes we had a bit of wrap left over. The hardest part of the job was getting that damn header nut that is just in the pit of the turn on the rear pipe. We were able to muscle it on and off with a Crowfoot (Billy calls it an eagle claw) wrench. I got the hang of it and it went on pretty good.
We used two of Thermo-Tec’s heat shields as well. The Rogue Shield works great on straight pipe, then the flexible silver strap-on pipe shield for the big turn right under my left thigh. I tell you what, that shield is excellent for keeping the heat off my leg.
No need to wet the wrap, simply start at the top, clamp it with a strap and get to wrapping. The end result is stunning and has a definite “Retro-Mod” look.
