Potter and I rode out to the desert.
Not just any desert.
The Mojave Desert.
That may sound daunting, but what was particularly spectacular was all the customs and hot rods out there. It was time for the Winfield/Watson show at Gene Winfields’ shop in Mojave.
It was tough call. At first I was thinking. If we hit this right, we leave at first light of the day on the harleys and get to the WW show when it opens watching the rods come in. Hang out for a couple of hours then head out to the 15 and south to Temecula to meet up with the Mercifuls at the Temecula Rod Run. However, we would get there with only a couple of hours before the rods all started to leave, then hit up the 5 back to home in Orange County.
Whew.
Well as it turns out, we didn’t have the where-with-all to do that kind of ride and as a matter-of-fact, my butt was glad. Just the ride out and back to Mojave made my butt a bit sore. Gotta get in better riding shape.
The event was really cool. If you have never been to Winfield’s shop, I strongly advise a trip. He has a boneyard that is filled with half-finished customs, discards from other projects and the like. Many are for sale.
