At the Historic Main Street Car Show
I got a call out of the blue from Allison with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. She asked if it would be alright if they brought the Wienermobile out to our car show. She is referring to the Historic Main Street Car Show on Friday Nights in Garden Grove, California. I said, YES! It would be great to have you! Then I immediately called Dianne Bain and told her the Wienermobile is coming! Dianne and her beau Rod Dixon run the show, I simply co-sponsor it with Ron and Laurie Cambra on the third Friday of the Month.
What a blast watching it roll down the alley to park in their location in the side lot (the only place to have ample room for a 2015 Wienermobile and canopy set up to park. This year the vehicle is re-branded as the Frankmobile, to put some shine on the new recipe All Beef Franks at Oscar Mayer.
The stories I heard from some of the attendees to the car show. First Rod tells me he still has his whistle they gave out when the Wienermobile showed up at the opening of the neighborhood Stater Bros. Grocery Store in 1965. I have seen his place and I believe it. He has ALL his toys and stuff from when he was a kid. Then this lady was talking to the pilots (called Frankfurters) Allie Dog and Angus Ann and pulled a whistle out of her purse that she has had since the 1950’s! So cool!
It was certainly a blast to see a symbol of our childhood at this party in the streets! See more of the Historic Main Street Car Show on Facebook
