At the 25th Cruisin’ For A Cure
It’s been a long run. Debbie Baker and her crew of volunteers have hosted this important event. An event that can easily say they have saved nearly 1000 men’s lives.
It all started when Debbie’s husband was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. She claimed, “You guys take better care of your cars than your bodies!” So she did something about it. She created a car show where men can get tested for Prostate Cancer with either a blood test and/or digital exam. Right there at the car show. That started a movement to save nearly 1000 men’s lives with heightened awareness and early detection. Several of my friends are survivors because of it and at the end of each show, she gets a photo taken with all the survivors who made it to that show.
So here I am, riding in my friend Ken Burnbaugh’s 1971 Chevrolet El Camino SS that he recently put back together in beautiful form. We are cruisin’ the 1.1 mile cruise route as I think back to all the years I have been coming to this show and getting tested! Sit back and enjoy the music of Franny and the Tremors as we cruise and reminisce about the show.
