In this season of charitable events, we were happy to be a part of the  sixth annual 401k Club Hot Rod Shop’s Classic Car Show benefitting St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Each year the show has been able to grow it’s contribution, exceeding the previous year’s total! And, we like that.

Blacktop Magazine was there featuring the works of artist Tim O’Donnell. Tim uses altered photographs of hot rods, classic cars, customs and motorcycles as his subject matter. His work includes interesting surfaces and detailed shots of classic design elements. The work was a big hit with people flipping through the stands of matted and wrapped samples.

Nick Stanton brought his street-legal NASCAR Talladega Ford and a drag-racin’ Pinto. Luke Denitto rolled out in his recently built, historic replica ’55 Gasser and towed in a Ford flathead powered midget racer. There were also the usual suspects including the one and only Pinup DJ and grill-master Melissa Swizz, and Tom Horvath sharing some detail knowledge with his CSI products. Pinup Erica Dean rolled her Falcon to the show from the Valley and noticed the mechanical fuel pump was leaking. Luke and some of the boys tried to help her fix it with some new hose and slowed the leak but the poor old “Falc” got a ride home from a flatbed. Some of the Mercifuls came out to enjoy the show and awarded a Club Pick to a real nice street/strip ’67 Cougar.

All-in-all the show was a lot of fun and a bit muggy. The great thing is, as reported earlier, the contribution to St. Judes has grown each year and for that we are thankful to the 401k Club Hot Rod Shop and their dedicated followers.
