There was certainly a lot of hub bub going on about this show, both before and after the event.
Let’s take it from the beginning as I see it. Last year there was a new show in town called the Port Nationals it was hosted by two friends, Carly DeVille and Eddie G. This year, for reasons unknown, the two split ways and are hosting their own events. Still at the port, Eddie G put together the Whitewall Nationals. Later this year Carly will be going big with a two-day event, Rising of the Rods out at Prado Regional Park.
Here we are at the Whitewall Nationals. I rolled in with my Mercifuls buddies. They checked the cars for coolers at the door. Eddie guided us to our spots in the warehouse between one of the stages and the “Cycle-O-Rama” showcase. This event is huge. Two stages, one inside and the other out in the parking lot adjacent to the warehouse. There were cars outside, inside and beautiful ladies all dressed up everywhere! This had to be the largest Pinup contest in the World! There were 40 girls vying for the honors. Twice they had 20 different girls at a time on-stage to compete for the top 10 in evening gowns, then again in swim-suits. Gadzooks. If only we could hear announcements of what was going on stage and when, I may have been able to see the winners.

Did I mention this place was HUGE? Hard to get a good count of the cars, I would assume near 1000. Sure there were challenges with the show, but all in all it was a great day for our kustom kulture enthusiasts. Bands, Pinup Girls, Show and Daily Driver cars, appropriate vendors and even a bike show.
Manuel Muller, builder extraordinaire, hosted the Cycle-O-Rama bike show featuring some of the great bikes we have seen in national magazines as well as other events such as Born Free. We found a couple in particular we will be featuring here. In-fact, take a look at the Night River Bang-Bang article here. We shot the bike at the show and will be going after another in the near future.
As the show was coming to a close in the mid-afternoon, there were rumblings that the event is actually scheduled to end at 9pm. We started seeing people pushing cars out of the warehouse to leave. We got to thinking, there is no way we can stay here till 9pm. We got here at 7am. To spend 14 hours at a show is kinda crazy. Around 4pm, a security guard helped us roll out the side door and cruise out through the back. We rolled over the bridges and home it was after a nice day at the port. Look forward to the next Whitewall Nationals in 2017.
