And now for something completely different…
On Fathers Day weekend, we usually head out to the L.A. Roadsters Show at the Fairplex. This year with a little prodding by my boy Billy we invited my pop out to the Rodeo Drive Concours D’Excellence – Art of Italian Motoring.
Not knowing what to expect, we thought we’d see a bunch of Concours type cars with a row of Ferrari’s and such. The show was ALL ITALIAN! The street was packed with cars and enthusiasts. A bit too packed for our taste – tough to get good photos of the cars. We saw a couple of cars the family has owned in the past. No not a Ferrari or Lambo, but a Fiat 128 Spider and a Fiat X-19. Yep, I admit to owning an X-19. Fun car but damn clutches go out too easy. The 128 was my moms car and another blast to drive. I remember going north on the 101 with my bro at the wheel heading up to see family in Nor Cal.
As a hot rodder and harley enthusiast, I am proud to say we found some a this event. John D’Agostino brought his modified Stutz Bearcat, and there was a 1961 Harley-Davidson Aeramacci bike! Outside the show on the sidestreets were a couple of customs, one from Chop-it Kustom.
All in all a great show, lots of great designs, and attention to detail. Not to mention a great day with three generations.
