As the threat of rain was to slide down the Roller Dome in Long Beach, the girls were prepping for the battle of the season. The winner of this battle of the 4th Street Retro Rollers vs The Belmont Hot Broads would go against the undefeated Bixby Rollerettes. The rain never came but the wicked cold ocean air was kept outside as the hot roller action was going on inside.
I dig Long Beach Roller Derby. Can you tell? From our first article when they were rolling on the flat cement floor of the Queen Mary Dome last year to all the bouts this season the girls have proven once again to create a great evening of entertainment. From the firedancers before the games begin, to the various bands that have performed, this season is gaining some momentum.
With all this great momentum, you have to get your wheels down on December 9th for the Championship battle. Yep, the 4th Street Retro Rollers beat the Belmont Hot Broads in a close bout and are ready to smear their brown shorty shorts all over the blue mini-dresses of the Bixby Rollerettes. Visit www.LongBeachRollerDerby.com for tickets. Also, these girls do this as a hobby and need your help to keep it going. So check out the “Save Long Beach Roller Derby Link” on their site too.
