Fred’s Old Tudor

Fred Quintard’s 1934 Ford 2-Door Sedan.

Imagine having a car for over 50 years. I have to stop and think about that statement for a moment. I think that Fred Quintard has to be the only guy I know who has had the same car for such a long period of time. He drove this car all the time in the 60’s. Well that makes since because he was a teen and going into his 20’s at that time. He would build other cars, drive them around for a bit, then someone would have to have it, so he would sell it. But, he would always come back to his Tudor to drive around as the next car is being built. And what a car too. He and his wife would double date with friends to the drive in and the adults would hang out in the friends car while the kids played in his. I am just imagining the scene. What a life.

What you maybe cannot see in the photos and video is the color of the body. While the fenders are Ford Black, the body is a deep dark “Eggplant”. Some wear around the door gives it away and on the inside of the door jams. That is why the interior has maroon accents and the steel wheels are painted maroon.

The flathead is a 21 stud A/B block, the last of several flatheads he has had over the years.

I met Fred recently at the BIG Wednesday Cruise Night hosted by Eric Minor and crew from MAC Speed and Custom and MC’d by the incomparable Paul Washington. What a great time at my first showing at BIG Wednesday in Placentia, CA.
