My boys at the Mercifuls Car Club host a weekly cruise on Thursday nights. The Cypress Cruise is at VJ’s Hamburgers on Walker St. just north of Ball Rd. in Cypress CA. The cruise night is right for friends, fun and frivol. At 7pm they have a raffle, 50/50, drivers raffle and awards. Each week there are several awards given out and instead of dust collecting little trophies they present award plaques. Each week the plaques change, as well as the awards. Always a Best of Show, they also have awards for such things as Best Pinstripe, Best Attention to Detail, etc. The awards are designed by Tony Colombini and feature photos from Blacktop Magazine.
The cruise season runs from the first Thursday of April through the last Thursday of October (excluding Halloween). The Cypress Cruise Night is sponsored by the good folks at The 401k Club Hot Rod Shop in Anaheim. They maintain several of the Mercifuls cars and are a great shop from ground-up builds to simple go-fast goodie installs.
