Cuffing Bars

Protecting our bars with Bar Cuffs

I seem to always find something new at the swap meet. And today was no different. I met Adam Ewles who invented Bar Cuffs. A simple table and banner grabbed my attention (pun intended).

Bar Cuffs help preserve the finish on your handlebars when using tie-down straps and hooks.

A simple product. Two identical C-shaped pieces of polished Forged Stainless Steel hinged on one end and slots on the other and soft rubber inserts. The opposing tear-drop shaped holes for the tie-down hook  allow the cuffs to tighten on the bars as the slack on the tie-down is cinched.

The kit comes with three different sizes of inserts for sport bars on up to chubby Harley bars.

Sizes include: 7/8”, 1” and 1.25”, the 7/8” and the 1” inserts include a cable or wire groove. They are rated for 2000lbs of pressure

The neat thing about them is the compact size. Carry a pair with the proper inserts on your bike for that rare occasion when you need a tow to protect your bars. I put mine in an old goggle bag. They are also great when you tie-down your bike on the lift.

I picked up a pair to use for all our toys, the Mini-Chop I and Mini-Chop II, Rapido, Scooter, our two Road Kings and even bicycles.

We brought them over to our favorite shop; Cyclepath Cycle to have Carl give them a try. He likes the way the rubber wraps around the cuff and protects his customers’ bars.
