The show that was supposed to be rained out.
We heard it all week long. The first storm of the 2023/24 El Niño of Southern California. Friday into Saturday rain. From 1-3 inches. Might not sound like much for some folks, but 3″ is a third of the annual rainfall in parts of Southern California.
Friday turned out nice. We were at the Garden Grove Historic Main Street Car Show and not a drop. Then in the morning, I met up with Ron Cambra to roll out to La Verne for Flying Deuces’ first holiday car show of the season. The Cruisin La Verne Holiday Car Show is a nice day just before Thanksgiving to get in the holiday spirit. Craig Hoelzel’s event always brings in nearly 400 cars. Some really sweet rides as well as cool dailies. I always see something new and different here.
This year was a bit different. I would guess there were a third to a half that didn’t show. And I can’t blame them. I didn’t bring my ride. Without windshield wipers and a hour long ride home I was sure it would be a pain in the ass. So. That means. All the more kudos to those who flung their noses to the weather reporters and brought out some sweet rides. Take a moment to check out some of my favorites.
Next up is the Brea Holiday Car Show another Flying Deuces event, then the Mercifuls ABC7 Spark of Love Toy Drive Car Show.
