La Verne, California 2025
April brings an onslaught of local car shows and Flying Deuces Cool Cruise in La Verne, is one not to miss. The sleepy town in the shadows of the NHRA Pomona Dragstrip is awake with the roll of cruisers, hot rods, muscle cars to display on the downtown streets around the 3rd and D street intersection.
There are lots of cool things about this event. I appreciate car shows that are on city streets rather than fairgrounds or asphalt parking lots. Founded in 1887 and incorporated in 1906, La Verne is nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel – Pomona Valleys. La Verne is situated approximately 35 miles east of Los Angeles and has a population of over 33,000. Although La Verne is located in metropolitan Los Angeles County, it is a “close-knit” community that has been able to retain its “small town” traditions and virtues. The downtown streets are lined with aged trees and mid-century buildings full of niche shops and restaurants. 3rd Street is also home to the University of La Verne in a sprawling campus.
The event hosts so cal car and truck clubs, with a special display of antique machinery presented by Western Antique Power Associates. The fun event is also a serious fund-raiser to benefit the La Verne K9 Police Association. Produced by Flying Deuces the show is sponsored by American Classic Cars, Cambra Speed Shop, Asombroso fine tequila, Knucklenoggin’ Whiskey, General Outdoor Advertising and MK Smith Chevrolet Dealer with media partners; So Cal Car Culture and Blacktop Magazine.
The video above is a complete walk through of the entire show. Enjoy.
