Now on Blacktop TV::
Richard Hall, Underoath Car Club member out of Torrance, CA brought new life into this family owned beauty.
I first saw this car at the 5th Annual Mercifuls Spark of Love Toy Drive and Car Show. He won the Blacktop Pick trophy at the event, so here it is for all to enjoy.
Family History
The car was bought on December 26th 1963 by Richard’s Father-in-law who traded a 1962 Porsche Hardtop and $188.00 dollars for the family car. The 2-door hardtop ‘64 Fairlane 500 was ordered with a 164 ci V-8 engine, automatic trans, radio, heater, white wall tires, padded dash and visor, seat belts, tinted windshield, rear view mirror, vinyl trim with covers and power steering.
Richard got the car in 1992 and has made some incredible upgrades.It was painted red when he got it but with new fiberglass fenders, hood and front bumper a new paint job was in order. He had Ford Performance Solutions stroke a 351 Windsor to 443 cubic inches! It recently Dyno’d at 610 hp 560 lbs of torque to an AOD trans with an 8” rear end and 4:11 gears controlled by a B&M Quicksilver Shifter to Billet Specialties wheels.
Most recently clubmate Joey Johnson at Cambra Speed Shop in Orange, CA installed a new front end from Rod and Custom in North Carolina. No more shock towers and the inner fenders and firewall were cleaned up and detailed.
ProCar seats with matching upholstery for the rear seat where Cheuy around the corner stitched it up. The interior now has a classy and functional design.
Future plans include a Dominator Carb and accompanying intake manifold and then sub-frame connectors.
