1969 BOSS 429 MUSTANG

A RESTORED ORIGINAL KAR KRAFT ASSEMBLED PONY

Jim Simpson's 1969 Boss 429 Mustang

Some call them Grails. You know, the one car. The car they always dreamed of. In this case Jim Simpson’s ultra-rare all original muscle car.

This is a highly restored, fully documented, very original, 1969 Boss 429 Mustang. It is one of the 93 rarest, Raven Black, Boss 429’s that were produced in 1969. It is also one of the first 200 “S” Code NASCAR engine Boss 429’s built by Ford and assembled by Kar Kraft. It is #KK1362 and on the National Boss 429 Registry.

The original buyer of this car kept it for one year then traded it in where the next owner kept the car for 40 years. In 2010 the third owner has had it professionally restored for 5 years to how you see it today.

All the sheet metal you see is original to the car. It is completely numbers matching with almost all its original and highly sought-after parts. Very few parts had to be replaced and were done so with either original NOS parts, original restored parts, or very high-quality correct replacement parts such as the tires, battery, etc. It has the original Autolite shocks, 7.75-14 space saver spare tire, original front spoiler, correct date coded Holley carburetor, correct radiator fan, even the original carpet!

The authenticity is verified by a deluxe Marti Report, 2 original build sheets, copies of the original window stickers, original invoices from Ford to Kar Kraft and then Kar Kraft to Fairway Ford in Greenville, South Carolina where the original owner bought it and kept this car within a 25-mile radius of the dealer for 40+ years! It also has the original owner’s Serv ice ID card, the original Owner’s Manual with supplement and many other documents proving the car’s complete history and originality.

Dickie and Matt Dills are a father/son team in Lilburn, Georgia.  They painstakingly did all the detailed work to restore this incredible vehicle. The original engine was completely rebuilt and blueprinted by Ted Fischer and John Kaase of Atlanta, Georgia. The original transmission was rebuilt by Don Williams of Franklin, North Carolina. The original differential was rebuilt and restored by Dickie and Matt Dills, and the amazing bodywork was massaged and painted by Rick Cantrell of Hayesville, North Carolina.

A very special word of thanks goes to Doug Herr of Factory Muscle Parts, with help finding the very rare parts when needed. Jacky Jones of Hayesville, NC, Kathy Harris of Harris Mustang Supply and Bob Perkins for their advice, direction, and locating the parts needed to maintain the originality of this car. This dedicated team worked together to create one of the finest examples in existence today of a 1969 Boss 429.
