The White Shield Highway Cruiser

John Quesada’s 1963 9-Passenger Impala Station Wagon.

He got it in pretty bad shape and it took 6 years to complete. It has a crate ZZ4 350ci Chevy small block, 700R Transmission, three piece custom drive shaft, posi-traction rear end with air ride suspension, and drives great 85 down the freeway. The way-back seat is what gets everyones attention. John shares a sick time going over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Everytime I see this low long-roof, I can’t help but think about those road-trips up Hwy 101 from Southern California to Santa Rosa to visit family. We had a blast. We would play a game where we pick a specific car, like Mustang and count as many as we see in the 12 hour drive. My sister would always win because she picked the VW Beetle. There was that one time though where we had an experience like John recalls. We left McDonalds in the late afternoon driving along Hwy 1 and the turns were just too much for me.

Anyway, John’s car is bitchen because it aint no stocker. Nope. The low stance, Astro Supremes with 1″ white walls, metal-flaked clear in the roof, It all adds to a really bitchen ride.
