When you roll up on this ride at the local car show, there isn’t anything that jumps out at you. Subtlety at its best. You dig deeper and get lost in the deep black skin, the chrome accents just hit the rather snubby looking roller into the stratosphere with rocket cues and adorned fins.
Then you think about the timing of this car. In the early days of NASCAR the Olds 88 was the car to beat. What? The? Actual?… yes. This plain jane businessman’s coupe was found to hit 60 in only 12.2 seconds!
Well it surely impressed Sam Trenary. He sold one of his other cars (rumored to be a ’57 Chevy) for this beauty. All the right stuff, super clean body accented with blackwall rubber and Torque Thrust wheels. Under the hood is all modern with a 383 Stroker, 700R trans, PS, AC, etc.
Sam has always loved the ’50 Olds 88 since he was in High School and he is “happy as hell.” to finally get one.
What? Want to see another cool story about Sam and his ’51 Chevy that he still has, for over 60 YEARS!
