What a year. What an incredible year for the folks at Rod Shows. John Buck, Kevin Doyle and crew put together an amazing Grand National Roadster Show to start off the car show year in early February. As per usual, Building 9 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California is reserved for a special themed show during GNRS. This year the theme was Keep on Truckin’ with a bitchen variety of Trucks, Mini-Trucks, and Vans from the early 70’s to today. Some really historic rides I remember seeing in early issues of Truckin’ Magazine with my older brothers and some later model equally cool rides.

That part of the show was such a hit with vans and trucks spilling out into the grounds around building 9 that the promoters decided to start something cool. The inaugural Grand National TRUCK Show was held in mid-September 2023 during a cool break in an unusually hot So Cal Summer. Not only were there dozens if not hundreds of trucks and vans on display around the grounds of the Fairplex’s buildings 4, 5, and 6. Building 4 hosted the featured builders, vendors and of course the contenders vying for the big prize, America’s Most Beautiful Truck.

Here I share with you the contenders for that prize. All equally as nice in their build qualities, imagination and skill. But there was only one winner and that was Greg Tidwell’s sea-foam green 40 Ford from South City Rod and Custom.
