What a beautiful day in Ventura for the David Mann Chopperfest. A crisp and sunny February in Southern California. I got there as the gates were just opened and still had a line about 10 minutes long. I was shooting while guys were still riding their bikes into the show area.
So I boogied on over to the art exhibit in one of the buildings, then over to the swap meet area. By then the place is packed! I thought, to go out to the truck and drop off my jacket and the line to get back in was a half hour long and wrapped past the casino. Anyway, all worth it as the event was top notch.
The bikes in the show corral were about 80% of the style you would see in a David Mann illustration. There were some others, that in my opinion are too new. A 2020 sumthin’ bagger just doesn’t fit here. Nice bikes, don’t get me wrong, just not the David Mann style.
The soundtrack on the video is Quick Bizness a cool 4 piece blues band. Appreciate the tunes guys.
There were a ton of vendors and the crowds loved em. I liked the swap meet areas better. It’s always fun to find that little something. I actually picked up some vintage slot cars for my toy museum, err office.
The Art Gallery was filled with super talented and inventive artists. From photographers, illustrators and traditional painters. Great stuff. Just wish there were more. The hall seemed about half empty. All in all a great day, highly recommend a stop.
