Cambra Speed Shop Breaks In Its New Digs with a Full-Throttle Grand Opening

More than 100 classics, hot rods, customs, boogie vans, live music, drag boat thunder, and good old-fashioned car culture filled Cambra Speed Shop’s new location on April 18.

Cambra Speed Shop christened its new location the only way that would make sense—by throwing one hell of a party.

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the new spot came alive with more than 100 classic cars, hot rods, street rods, boogie vans, and customs, turning the property into a full-scale celebration of Southern California car culture. It was not the opening of a new business. It was the next chapter for a well-known shop, and the crowd showed up like they knew it.

From early on, the place was packed with chrome, paint, horsepower, and personality. Hot rods sat nose-to-tail with clean customs, street machines, and laid-back vans, while friends, families, and fellow gearheads worked their way through the rows. It had the feel of a real neighborhood blowout—part car show, part reunion, and part rolling tribute to the kind of hands-on culture that built shops like Cambra Speed Shop in the first place.

Live music from Franny and the Tremors kept the energy up, with Ron Cambra himself behind the drums. That detail alone said plenty. This was not some polished corporate grand opening with a banner and a handshake. This was personal. This was a shop owner putting his stamp on the day, surrounded by cars, music, and the people who helped make the move worth celebrating.

Helping keep things moving at the prize table were Dianne and Rod from the Garden Grove Historic Main Street Car Show, bringing their familiar spirit and enthusiasm to the event. The day was hosted by the Mercifuls So Cal, while local vendors and food trucks added another layer of hometown flavor to an already stacked gathering.

Then came the noise.

Throughout the day, the crowd stopped and turned every time the two flat-bottom drag boats barked to life for a cacklefest. That hard-edged roar cut through the event and rattled the place in the best possible way. Because this was Cambra Speed Shop, and a party like this was never going to stay quiet for long. A little fuel, a little thunder, and some proper roarin’ zoomies made sure of that.

The event wrapped with a trophy presentation that put a strong finish on an already memorable day. The trophies were built by Fred DeFalco, a friend of the shop, which fit the tone of the whole event perfectly. Nothing about the day felt off-the-shelf. It was built by real people, for real car people.

Cambra Speed Shop’s Grand Opening at its new location was more than a turnout. It was a statement. The cars were right, the music was loud, the boats were rowdy, and the people came ready to celebrate. It was a proper welcome to the new digs—and proof that when Cambra Speed Shop makes a move, the local car community moves with it.
