ArtMartyr: The Painted Pinups of Kirt Pettey

Painted Pinups of Kirt Pettey

After being introduced to Photoshop by a friend who worked at Disney, Kirt Pettey created a card for Pinup Model; Briana Fraga and utilized a “painted” effect. The card gained a lot of attention, so Kirt seeked out Chad Scott to start the business; Painted Pinups. Kirt has since took over the company and is the photographer and digital artist.

His unique vision and skill was honed by his interest in music, cars, fashion, and film of Postwar America. His art is influenced by literature, old EC Comic Books, classic pinup art. He enjoys telling a story using just one image.

I asked him about the piece: A Haunting In The Library
“In the film Ghostbusters, the image of the librarian just floating there always unnerved me as a kid, so I wanted to give off the same creepy vibe. The concept here is that you had been observing her for a few moments, and this is right when she looks back at you.”
